4 Tile Tends You’re Going to See in 2018

Now that 2018 is officially here, it’s time to share some of the most unique tile trends we’re seeing on the way up. Read on to learn more about what they are. If you want these newest trends, classic tiles, or anything in between, Mission Tile West is here for you. Stop by our showroom or give us a call at 626-799-4595.

  1. Hexagon tiles
  2. Shape is, as always, an important aspect of new tiles in 2018. We’re seeing many hexagon tiles gaining traction. These are one of the most classic tile options but we expect that they’ll move from the background and pushed into the spotlight. The hexagon, along with the many variations, is going to grow – and sometimes in unexpected ways. For example, you may cover your wall with a mural made in hexagon tiles, or use larger hexagon tiles to add unique patterns to a variety of installations.

In the past, hexagon tiles have been one of the most popular choices for bathroom and kitchen flooring. In 2018, expect this shape to show up more and more in kitchen backsplashes as well. At Mission Tile West, we have a number of tiles with this shape.

  3. Colors that focus on emotion
  4. We’re seeing designers focusing not just on how colors look, but on what they make a person feel. They’re looking at deep colors that bring drama to any design. We’re seeing these deep colors paired with wooden elements, metallic finishes, and organic textures to create a feeling of serenity and luxury.

These darker, saturated colors could easily feel heavy or too dark, but that’s why they’re being paired with white walls, wood finishes throughout a room, and unique tiles with matte finishes. This creates the wanted drama, but also helps the room not look quite so moody or unwelcoming.

  5. Brick-like tiles are all the rage
  6. You may have noticed a theme in 2018 tile trends: They embrace nature and therefore organic elements. This is why tiles that have aspects in common with bricks are becoming very popular. With a tile that mimics brick, you get a rustic look that’s refined, you get elegance but it’s still casual. It’s being used as full height backsplashes, to decorate fireplaces, and even as floor patterns.

  7. Patterns created with pieces
  8. Patterns have become increasing popular in the last few years, but in 2018 we’re going to see a change toward monochromatic patterns. These will be created by taking tile shapes and interlocking them for subtle textures, instead of the current trend of using options that immediately draw the eye to the installation.

No matter what type of tile you’re on the search for, you can count on Mission Tile West to have you covered. We provide hand painted, unique tiles that will showcase your unique personality. We welcome you to stop by your showroom to see our wide array of colors, textures, sizes, shapes, and options. If you have questions, please call us at 626-799-4595.
