8 Ways to Increase the Storage Space in Your Kitchen

It’s rare to find a homeowner who didn’t wish that they could double the space in their kitchen. Whatever style of kitchen you have, whatever your needs are, it’s likely that you wish your kitchen were more organized and efficient. At Mission Tile West, we can help you achieve that goal by providing superior tiles for your kitchen remodel from your floors to your cabinets. Read on to get eight unique ideas for adding storage space to your kitchen and then reach out to us at 626-799-4595.

  1. Be flexible
  2. We’ll get to more specific suggestions soon, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t start with this obvious piece of advice that it’s easy to forget: Be flexible! If you can’t get exactly what you want, don’t throw the project out. Have an idea of what you’d love to have and then be willing to compromise to get something that will work great.

  3. Install glass front cabinets
  4. If you install a glass front cabinet then you can use space that would otherwise not be usable. You can add cookbooks or other things you’ll use frequently and want in an area that’s easy to access. If you want to create a focal point, consider grouping some much-used items within the same bright accent color.

  5. Use open shelves on your kitchen island
  6. Do you have a kitchen island? If you do, then add open shelves to the end of it. There you can put your cooking supplies or extra cookbooks. This is a great way to add storage, but remember that anything you put on it will be at a low level and not readily accessible without bending down.

  7. Add a shelf above a window
  8. If your kitchen has windows, don’t let those windows just be wasted space. Add a shelf above it to show off your favorite kitchen gadgets. Likewise, you could also add an extra shelf behind your stove to store things you grab often and need quickly.

  9. Find an area to store items on your countertop
  10. In most cases, you’re not going to want to store items on your countertop. However, if you need an extra workspace, then consider finding a place on your countertop that will work for that. If you need extra space, then find a corner of your counter that doesn’t get much use. Find a way to store items there so that they look attractive. Add new kitchen tile to your counters to make sure they look great.

  11. Make a plate rack part of your décor
  12. Adding a plate rack and then displaying your most decorative plates is a great way to add to your décor while also adding storage space.

  13. Get hooks
  14. Installing hooks in your kitchen is a great way to make use of your wall space. You could hang coffee mugs, pots, or anything else that you want to tuck away on the wall.

  15. Use magnetic strips
  16. Magnet strips are creative and they’re easy to use. Just attach them to the walls and hang your metal kitchen goods from them, such as scissors or knives.

These are just eight of the ways you can add storage in your kitchen. At Mission Tile West, we’re standing by to help make your kitchen as beautiful as it is functional.
