At Mission Tile West, we are here to help our clients with every step of the kitchen design process. We provide dozens and dozens of tile options, but before you decide how you want to cover your kitchen counters, you must first decide how much counter space you actually need. This can seem like a tough question to answer but we have a few tips to help. Read on to learn about them and then contact us at 626-799-4595 to get started with your kitchen design project.
You have plenty of room to cook comfortably
Many homeowners think that they’re taking this into consideration but they’re actually only considering part of it. They think about whether or not they have enough room to cook but not if it’s enough room to cook comfortably. Remember that as you prepare food, you’re likely to have out an appliance or two, a number of knives, sheet trays, cutting boards – and that’s without even considering the food itself!
Now, as you think about whether or not you have room to cook comfortably, remember to take other people into consideration. Do you cook frequently with your spouse? Do you have children that you hope will learn to cook some day? If so, then you need to think not just about if you can comfortably cook on those counters but if others can as well.
Do you have room to store everything you need?
Once again, you don’t want to just picture your kitchen when it’s use with only the things you’re using. Do you want to have your coffee maker out? Do you want to be able to display your flour and sugar jars? What about your knives?
If you don’t take these issues into consideration then you’ll end up with a tough decision on your hands down the line: Do you go through the inconvenience of never having your tools at arm’s reach and having to put them back every time you use them, or do you live without enough room to cook comfortably?
Can you walk through the kitchen easily?
If you have counters that take up too much space in your kitchen, you’re going to have a tough time getting around. In many homes, the kitchen is one of the busiest rooms in the house and the last thing you want are counters that constantly bruises family members. This isn’t any fun for your family and it could eventually damage your counters as well.
Consider how they’ll look with everything else installed
When you’re considering the size and tile options for your kitchen, you want to make sure that you’re selecting options that will work with the rest of your kitchen. You don’t want them overpowering the room but you also don’t want them to look too small.
