Floor Tile 101: Get the Basics Before Your Project Gets Started

Regardless of the room you are planning on designing, one of the first decisions to make is what type of flooring will work best. At Mission Tile West we are partial to tile flooring for every room in the home, from the bathroom to the kitchen.

If you are considering tile but are not sure where to start then we invite you to visit our location today. You can also give us a call at 626-799-4595 to find out more about your options. In the meantime, read on to learn some of the basics that everyone should know before moving forward with a tile flooring project.

A tip for unique grout

Once you have chosen the right tile for your home, it will be time to think about installation. One of the things needed will be grout. We recommended choosing a color that is just a little bit darker than the color of your tile. Why? Because it will help the pattern and color you’ve chosen to really pop. As an added bonus, it will not need to be cleaned as often!

Tile flooring can help you add light to your space

If you are considering tiling a room that is somewhat dark then you may want to choose a glossy finish. We offer a wide range of truly beautiful glossy tiles and they can actually help reflect light. As a result, the space can seem brighter and most people will not be able to figure out why.

Patterned tiles are as strong or stronger than solid colored tiles

At Mission Tile West we offer a wide range of tiles that have unique patterns. Potential customers love these tiles but we hear one myth repeated time and again: The fact that they are hand painted means that they must not be as strong or as durable as solid colored tile. This is frankly false. Every tile we sell is built to last and are of heirloom quality.

Bring in color without committing

It’s common for a homeowner to see some of the bolder, brighter tiles and fall in love with them, only to be worried that they will be too bold and bright for the particular room they are designing. In situations such as this, we recommend using the more colorful tile as an accent. For example if you have a bright, bold blue you want to use in the bathroom, use it only in the shower and tile the rest of the bathroom in a more neutral color.

No matter what room or rooms you want to tile, no matter what type of tile you want, if you are looking for the best products then you are looking for Mission Tile West. Call us today at 626-799-4595 or stop by our showroom.
