What to Expect When Designing Custom Tile

Designing custom tiles for your home can be a fun and exciting process that allows you to
express your creativity and make your living space truly unique. Custom tiles can be used in a
variety of ways, from creating a decorative backsplash in your kitchen to adding a personal
touch to your bathroom, living room, or outdoor space.

The first step in designing custom tiles is to consider the style and design you want to achieve.
Are you looking for something modern and sleek, or do you prefer a more traditional look? Do
you want to create a fun mural, mosaic, or design intricate patterns?

Often when clients come to us for a custom tile design, they have an idea in mind or they have
something they would like to replicate. Take Leslie Saeta from My 100 Year Old Home as an
example. She came to us with an idea for the beverage station backsplash for her Ventura
Beach house based on a cool tile pattern she had seen in a restaurant while on a family
vacation. Together we worked hand-in-hand to create a similar look while also adding her own
personal touch to the pattern. Now she is thrilled to have unique, artisan-crafted tiles in her
home for family and friends to enjoy for years to come.

If you choose to create customized tiles for your home, keep in mind this process may take up
to 8 weeks on the short-end but it can take up to 12 to 16 weeks in some cases. Alongside our
Made by Mission Tile West custom offerings, we also carry a variety of other tile vendors who
create beautiful and unique customized tiles as well. Call to make an appointment with us and
our sales team will help guide you based on the style and material you’re interested in.
